SOL Group invests with CropEnergies €15 million in the recovery of biogenic CO2 by alcoholic fermentation in Belgium
From 2021 up to 65,000 tonnes of biogenic CO2 of the highest purity will be captured annually
SOL Group SOL – one of the leading European players in the production of technical, pure, medicinal gases and in respiratory homecare- has signed with CropEnergies – German group and the largest European producer of ethanol from renewable biomass – an agreement to jointly invest in production facilities for the recovery of biogenic CO2 by alcoholic fermentation at the Belgian subsidiary of CropEnergies in Wanze.
The investment of the two partners, amouting to € 15 million, will be carried out at the site of BioWanze SA, where is located the largest Belgian ethanol production facility from renewable biomass, mostly replacing fossil fuel in transport.
With start-up of operations scheduled for 2021, the plant will capture annually up to 65,000 tonnes of biogenic CO2 of the highest purity from the production of renewable ethanol, available for applications in the food, health, and environmental fields.
